# Map geography

The simplified Isle of Man and Calf of Man outlines are extracted from Natural Earth 1:10m Admin 0 Countries and Minor Islands (downloaded 19 October 2026). Natural Earth data is public domain.

`island-outline.json` retains the source WGS84 geometry. The map projects it with a local equirectangular projection. Place coordinates are approximate editorial locations. They do not identify entrances, walking routes or tour meeting points. Place descriptions refer to the source-backed articles linked from each entry. No live geographic or mapping API is called by visitors.

All map photography uses the existing licensed assets; see ../IMAGE-CREDITS.md and ../assets.json. Reused photographs illustrate the linked guide and are labelled as such, rather than representing every individual marker.
